イベントアーカイブ第2回では、「PENTHOUSE GROOVE 1st Anniversary DJ EVENT」の模様をお届けします。
当日ご来場いただいた方々、誠にありがとうございました。前回は“某ダブプレートお披露目会”と銘打って開催しましたが、今回のイベントもお楽しみいただけましたでしょうか。
まずは父の選曲から印象的だった点を振り返ります。序盤はEngelbert Humperdinck – From Here to Eternityをはじめとした壮大でドラマチックな展開が印象的でした。
中盤はフランス音楽を軸に多彩な展開が続きました。Louis Vertigo「Où Est La Femme?」ではフランス語が織りなす優雅な雰囲気とミニマルでクールなエレクトロサウンドが際立っていました。これを皮切りに、Spoon E MCのフレンチヒップホップやSerge Gainsbourgのダークなフレンチポップ、Dimitri From Parisの都会的で洗練されたラウンジサウンドへと展開していきました。そこからさらにエレクトロニカ、ダブ、ヒップホップ、タンゴなど様々なジャンルを横断する流れがあり、様々な角度から聴く人を楽しませるバリエーションに富んだ内容だったと感じました。
終盤は春らしい爽やかなサウンドで季節感のある締め括りでした。特にDorothy AshbyからArthur Verocai - Bisへの展開は春風が吹き抜けるような心地よさがあり、多くの方の印象に残ったのではないでしょうか。
父の選曲はフランス音楽やダブ、ヒップホップ、タンゴなど様々なジャンルを横断し、曲調もダークなものから美しい旋律のものまで幅広い楽曲を使用しており、引き出しの多さとセンスが際立つDJプレイでした。
一方の私はこれまで父に教わったことをベースに、少しでも自分らしさを出して皆様に楽しんでいただけるように選曲させていただきました。
序盤はMilton NascimentoやWaltel Brancoといったリズミカルでパワーのある楽曲を選びました。
中盤はそのリズム感を保ちつつSerge GainsbourgやMC Solaarといったダークでアーバンなフレンチ・チューンを取り入れ、そこから最近のお気に入りであるライブラリー音源へと展開させました。
終盤はJon Lucien「come with me to rio」→寺尾聰「Shadow City」へと繋ぎ、ジャンルは異なりながらも構成に共通点のある2曲で締めくくりました。
今回は教わった楽曲に加えて自ら発掘してきたお気に入りの曲も取り入れ、尚且つ自分なりにストーリー性のある展開になるよう選曲させていただきました。父にはまだ遠く及びませんがこれからもイベントや配信を通して皆様に楽しんでいただける選曲をお届けできるよう精進してまいります。
また、今回のイベントでは先着10名様に「PG Special Invitation Card」をお配りしました。スマホをかざすだけでPENTHOUSE GROOVEのウェブサイトに遷移できる特別仕様のカードです。今回は10枚限定での配布でしたが、今後またどこかで手に入るチャンスがあるかもしれません。次回はさらに進化しているかも？乞うご期待ください。
PENTHOUSE GROOVEはこのイベントをもって１周年を迎えました。父とYouTube配信を始めた日から1年が経過したと思うと、この一年は非常に短く、また様々な変化のある一年だったように思います。
当初父と音楽を通して何かやってみたいという漠然とした思いがあり、まずはYouTubeの配信を始めた一年前、音の頭出しもおぼつかないまま踏み切った第一歩は今では大きな一歩だったと感じます。DJをすることや、音楽についての話を父と共有できることの楽しさはもとより、それを皆様にも楽しんでいただけるコンテンツとして発信できることの喜びにも気づくことができた一年でした。
今後もPENTHOUSE GROOVEのコンテンツを多面的に展開していく予定です。我々の活動が私と父自身にとってだけでなく、皆様にとっても日々の楽しいひとときとなるものにしていけるように努めてまいります。
改めまして、今回のイベントにお越しいただいた皆さまに心より感謝申し上げます。次回のイベントでまたお会いできるのを楽しみにしています。

Event Archive Vol. 2 features a recap of the “PENTHOUSE GROOVE 1st Anniversary DJ EVENT.”
Thank you so much to everyone who attended! Our previous event was billed as a “dubplate preview party,” and we hope you enjoyed this special anniversary event just as much.
Let’s start by looking back at the highlights from my father’s DJ set. The opening was dramatic and grand, featuring tracks like Engelbert Humperdinck – From Here to Eternity. In the middle section, he built a diverse progression centered around French music. Louis Vertigo’s “Où Est La Femme?” stood out for its elegant French lyrics and cool, minimal electro sound. This led into French hip-hop by Spoon E MC, the dark French pop of Serge Gainsbourg, and the sophisticated lounge vibes of Dimitri From Paris. The set then traversed genres such as electronica, dub, hip-hop, and tango, offering a rich variety that delighted listeners from many angles.
The closing segment was bright and breezy, perfect for spring. The transition from Dorothy Ashby to Arthur Verocai’s “Bis” felt like a fresh spring breeze—surely a memorable moment for many attendees. My father’s set showcased his broad taste and creativity, moving seamlessly between genres and moods, from dark and moody to beautifully melodic.
As for my own set, I aimed to build on what I’ve learned from my father, adding a personal touch for everyone’s enjoyment. I started with rhythmic, powerful tracks by Milton Nascimento and Waltel Branco. In the middle, I kept the groove going with darker, urban French tunes by Serge Gainsbourg and MC Solaar, then shifted into some of my recent favorite library tracks. For the finale, I connected Jon Lucien’s “Come with me to Rio” to Akira Terao’s “Shadow City”—two very different songs with a shared structure, making for a unique closing.
This time, I incorporated not only tracks my father introduced to me but also my own discoveries, striving for a set with a sense of narrative. I still have a lot to learn, but I’ll continue working to deliver enjoyable selections at future events and live streams.
We also distributed the “PG Special Invitation Card” to the first 10 guests—a special card that lets you access the PENTHOUSE GROOVE website just by tapping your smartphone. While only 10 were handed out this time, there may be more opportunities in the future, so stay tuned!
This event marked PENTHOUSE GROOVE’s first anniversary. Looking back, the year since I started YouTube streaming with my father has flown by, filled with many changes. When we launched our channel, I just wanted to do something musical with my dad, even if I could barely cue up a record. That first step was huge, and over the past year, I’ve come to appreciate not only the fun of DJing and sharing music with my father but also the joy of creating content that others can enjoy.
We plan to keep expanding PENTHOUSE GROOVE’s content in many directions. We hope our activities will continue to bring fun moments not just for us, but for you as well.

記念すべき第一回のイベントアーカイブでは、ヤン富田氏によるブルーノート東京での公演を取り上げさせていただきます。
父はかつてヤン富田さんと仕事をご一緒させていただいたことがあり、私も幼い頃からヤンさんについての話をたびたび聞いてきました。
その影響もあって、これまで数多くのヤンさんの楽曲を聴いてきましたが、今回ようやくライブを生で体験することができました。
ヤン富田さんといえばスティールパンを使用した宇宙を連想させるような独特の空気感・浮遊感のある楽曲が多数存在しますが、
今回のライブでもスティールパンの一音目が奏でられたその瞬間からヤン富田さんの楽曲特有の独特な宇宙観に引き込まれた感覚をこのイベントアーカイブを書いている今でも鮮明に覚えています。
序盤の演奏では「Beyond The Blue Star Zone」と「Air Vibes」が非常に印象に残っています。
特に「Air Vibes」は私も父も愛聴してきた楽曲で、いつまでも聴いていたくなるようなあの流麗なストリングスを生演奏で拝聴することができたのは素晴らしい体験でした。
中盤に演奏された「Forever Yann / Forever Young」では、楽曲内で使用された「C-ya!」が印象的でした。
これは父から教わったヤン富田さんの楽曲のひとつで、かつて父がヤンさんとの仕事の中でも使っていたという話もあり、感慨深いものがありました。
後半の「噂だけの世紀末」と「Memory Band」についても今回のライブで個人的に気づきのある選曲でした。
元ネタの「Love Is EveryWhere」や「Memory Band」は私がDJを始めた頃に父から教わり、特に思い入れのある楽曲たちです。
その曲がヤン富田さんのライブで使用されたことに不思議な縁を感じるとともに、ヤン富田さんのいう「必然性のある偶然」の片鱗に触れた瞬間だったように思います。
合間に挟まれるトークが茶目っ気たっぷりだったことも印象に残っています。
演奏だけでなく、ヤン富田さんの人柄に触れたことで、かつて父との会話から想像したことしかなかったヤン富田さんの世界が実際に目の前に広がっている感覚を覚え、新鮮であるような、どこか懐かしいような不思議な感覚に包まれました。
終演後には、僭越ながら楽屋へご挨拶にも伺いました。今回父は来場できませんでしたが、父から私へと伝えられてきたヤン富田さんの数々のお話や、現在父子で始めたPENTHOUSE GROOVEの活動についてもお伝えすることができました。
今回のライブは、ヤン富田さんおよびオーディオ・サイエンス・ラボラトリー（A.S.L.）が掲げる「音楽による意識の拡大」という理念に、改めて深く共鳴するきっかけとなりました。
父から教わってきた多くのことの源流を体感できたような、かけがえのない経験でした。
この体験を糧に、PENTHOUSE GROOVEとして発信するコンテンツが皆様の音楽体験をより豊かにできるよう、今後も精進してまいります。

私のようにヤン富田さんの音楽に感化されてきた方はもとより、これから感化されていく方の音楽体験の拡張の一助になれば幸いです。

In this commemorative first edition of our event archive, we are pleased to feature a performance by Jan Tomita at Blue Note Tokyo.
My father once worked with Yann Tomita, and growing up, I often heard stories about him. Influenced by those stories, I listened to many of his works, but this was the first time I experienced his live performance firsthand.
Known for his ethereal, space-inspired soundscapes featuring the steelpan, Yann Tomita instantly transported us into his universe from the first resonating note. I can vividly recall that overwhelming sensation even as I write this archive.
In the early part of the set, "Beyond The Blue Star Zone" and "Air Vibes" left a particularly strong impression. "Air Vibes" has always been a favorite of both my father and me, and hearing its beautiful, flowing strings live was unforgettable.
Midway through the concert, "Forever Yann / Forever Young" featured the track "C-ya!," a song my father introduced to me that held personal significance because of their past collaborations.
Later in the set, "Whispers of the End of the Century" and "Memory Band" resonated deeply. I was struck by the sense of destiny, recalling that these songs were among the first my father recommended when I started DJing. It felt like a glimpse into the "inevitable coincidences" Yann often spoke of.
Between performances, Yann's witty and playful MC segments further revealed his character. Experiencing his music and personality firsthand was both refreshingly new and deeply nostalgic.
After the show, I had the honor of visiting his dressing room. I shared how my father had passed along many of Yann’s stories and how we are now pursuing new activities together as PENTHOUSE GROOVE.
This concert reaffirmed Yann Tomita and the Audio Science Laboratory's vision of "expanding consciousness through music," a philosophy that has deeply influenced my own journey.
Building on this unforgettable experience, we at PENTHOUSE GROOVE are more committed than ever to creating content that enriches listeners' musical lives.
